• Mission R debuts in 2014

San Francisco’s Mission Motorcycles will soon commence production of its all-electric bike called the “Mission R”. This production motorbike will be based upon the all-electric Mission RS bike that took the the 2011 TTGXP Laguna Seca race by storm…just marvelous. The Mission R is powered by a 120kW (160hp) electric motor coupled to Mission’s proprietary InfiniteDrive™ powertrain giving it the juice it needs to accelerate from 0-60mph (100km/h) in 3 seconds and reach a top speed of 150mph (241 km/h). The Mission R is armed with a 17kWh lithium-ion battery that gives it a 140 mile (225km) range. Of course the Mission R isn’t just unique for what it has; it equally stands out for what it lacks. According to Mission, “No pistons, crankshaft, clutch, and other mechanical parts rotating at thousands of rounds per minute, the Mission R gives itself a new dynamic in handling and control… Lack of inertial forces created by hundreds of heavy spinning engine parts makes the Mission R drop into corners like no other motorcycle.”clip_image001 In addition to its impressive mechanics the Mission R is also equipped with a state of the art instrument panel that can easily be accessed from the touch screen Graphical user interface. Capable of handling Bluetooth devices, turn-by turn navigation and all other types of communication, the Mission R truly sets itself apart from other bikes.

If this story has inspired your intent to get one, Mission Motorcycles is offering the Mission R at the bargain rate of $29,999. But there is a catch, you wait until mid to late 2014 to get your hands on this high-tech, green machine.
